The Management of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, FUHSO has assured staff and students that adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property on its campuses following a volatile security situation in the Otukpo metropolis.
The assurance was given on Sunday by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Aba Uba, during an address to members of the university community.
Prof. Uba urged staff and students to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear. He said the university administration was taking proactive steps to prevent any breach of peace on campus.
“The security and welfare of our students and staff remain our utmost priority,” the Vice-Chancellor stated. “Management is not resting on its oars in ensuring the safety of the entire university community.”
Also speaking, the Chief Security Officer of FUHSO, Mr. Michael Anebi, said additional security personnel have been deployed to strengthen surveillance and protection across all university campuses.
He called on staff and students to remain security conscious and to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate authorities.
“Go about your legitimate duties without fear, but be vigilant,” Anebi stated
The university noted that the Vice-Chancellor had, on July 1, 2026, directed the issuance of a security advisory to the university community as part of efforts to forestall potential threats.
According to a statement signed by the Head of Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, Mr. Sunday Igah, FUHSO Management is working closely with relevant security agencies and will continue to monitor developments to maintain a peaceful and secure learning environment.
The assurance comes amid growing concern over security in Otukpo LGA, where suspected armed attacks were reported in nearby communities early Sunday.
Management urged all members of the university community to cooperate with security operatives and to prioritize personal safety while academic activities continue as scheduled.
