The Minister of Women Affairs, Hon Iman Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has donated sets of computers to the State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State to support the ongoing e-membership registration exercise across the state.
She made the donation on Saturday in Lafia while inspecting the APC e-registration exercise in Lafia.
The Minister who expressed excitement in the conduct of the exercise, noted that Nasarawa State has positioned itself as one of the leading states in the country.
“I am here with so much excitement, pride and commendation. I am so proud of the work we are doing in Nasarawa State with regards to the e-registration.
” We are among the top states that have measured in to ensure that we strengthen the party at the state level. We are not the greatest party in Africa for nothing. I am sure by the end of this exercise we will prove it,” she said.
She announced the donation of laptop computers for each local government area and cash incentives to support logistics.
The Minister further disclosed that incentives would be introduced to reward hard work and commitment.
According to her, prizes will be awarded to the best ward, local government, and polling unit with the highest number of registered members, while registration teams with outstanding performance will also be recognised.
Hon Sulaiman-Ibrahim called on women to fully participate in the process, stressing that it was time to move from the margins to the mainstream of party politics.
“This is the time for us to come in to the mainstream party politics. I am so proud when I see women across all ages, young women, and youth. It shows that women are ready to participate and support the growth of the party and key into the democratic governance of this nation,” she said.
She challenged young people to take advantage of the exercise, warning that apathy would only lead to regrets.
“Anybody who doesn’t take this opportunity should not be lamenting. It’s time for us to make it count, to register,” she added.
Reaffirming her loyalty to the party and its leadership, Hon. Sulaiman-Ibrahim lauded President Bola Tinubu, Governor Abdullahi Sule, and the APC leadership for their commitment to deepening democracy.
“Mr. President is committed, the party at national level is committed, our government is committed, our party here in the state is committed, and all the party members are committed 100%,” she stated.
She, therefore, called on members to intensify mobilisation, urging them to adopt a “one-to-tell-one” approach until each member brings at least ten new registrants into the party.
In his remarks,the State APC chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, commended the Minister saying she was “committed and loyal member of the party, a true daughter of the state.”
He highlighted her contributions to the party, including providing logistic support to all the local governments for mobilisation, purchase of data, and printing of forms for party members’ registration, particularly women.
Dr Bello also thanked her for supplying laptop computers to the party and invited women yet to be registered to come forward for registration.
He noted that the Minister’s efforts have been instrumental in promoting the party’s growth in the state. “You are the only one that has done this for the party,” he said, commending her for her dedication and support.
He also promised that agents excelling in the registration exercise would be rewarded with computers or monetary incentives, with the government approving 100 Naira for each person registered by an agent.
The chairman emphasised the importance of mobilisation and urged stakeholders to encourage people to come out and register.
He further acknowledged with thanks other eminent personalities in the State who have contributed to the success of the exercise and expressed optimism that with the Minister’s support, Keffi would surpass other local governments in the registration exercise, saying at the moment , Lafia local government area was leading in the registration exercise, with Nasarawa, Akwanga, Keffi, and others following.
On their parts, the State Coordinator of E-Membership Registration Exercise, Mr Hassan Abubakar and APC Women leader in Lafia, Hajiya Amina Aliyu both appreciated President Tinubu and the Minister for the support given to women and party members in the state and appealed for sustenance.
The Voice reports that the e-registration exercise, which has already recorded impressive turnout across Nasarawa, is expected to further consolidate the APC’s strength in the state as it prepares for future elections.
