The Nasarawa State Government has directed the release of ₦10 million for the reconstruction of shops gutted by fire in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the State.
The Deputy governor of the State, Dr Emmanuel Akabe gave the directive on Wednesday when he visited the scene of the recent fire outbreak in Nasarawa LGA.
He assured that traders who lost their valuables will be compensated and described the fire disaster as a test of faith.
While urging the affected traders to remain steadfast amidst challenges, Dr Akabe also promised that government would take measures towards preventing such incidents in major markets across the state.
Also speaking, the Emir of Nasarawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jibrin, represented by his deputy, Sabo Iduwa, appreciated the deputy governor for identifying with them over the incident.
He stated that the extent of damage is estimated at over ₦50 million.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment, Hajiya Khadijat Oshafu commended the government for embarking on the construction of a standard modern township market in Nasarawa LGA.
She said the construction has reached completion stage and wasawaiting reticulation for adequate water supply.
On her part, the State Assembly Member representing Nasarawa Central Constituency, Hajiya Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim donated the sum of ₦1 million naira to support traders at the motor park.
Responding on behalf of the affected traders , Chairman of the market union at the motor park, Gambo Dan Kabo appreciated the government and the lawmaker for coming to their aid.
He called on government to reconstruct the shops razed down by the fire outbreak to restore market activities.
