The CLEEN Foundation, in partnership with the Norwegian Embassy, has launched the Benue State Multi-Stakeholder Implementation and Monitoring Committee to promote the National Action Plan (NAP) on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) in the state.
The launch took place at the 3-Day WPS Multi-Stakeholder inception training workshop held from Tuesday, 11th November to Thursday, 13th November 2025, at Batoha Resort, Makurdi, Benue State.
In his opening remarks, the Executive Director of CLEEN Foundation, Mr. Peter Maduoma, stated that their aim was to strengthen WPS in Nigeria and Benue state in particular through the inauguration of the State Multi-Stakeholder Implementation and Monitoring Committee.
“CLEEN Foundation and its funding partner, the Norwegian Embassy, recognise the need for strengthening WPS in Benue state and that this requires skilled, wellcoordinated, and data-driven monitoring across the value chain of peace and conflict resolution.” Maduoma said.
He enumerated the objectives of the State Multi-Stakeholder Committee to include: “Building the capacity of committee members on WPS principles, implementation frameworks, and monitoring tools.
“Enhancing coordination among government institutions, security agencies, and civil society actors on the WPS agenda. Developing state-specific implementation and reporting frameworks aligned with the National Action Plan on WPS.”
The Director Benue State Budget and Planning Commission, Prof. Jerome Andohol, commended CLEEN Foundation on ensuring that issues that affect women are being addressed.
He lamented the insecurity challenge which has affected the livelihood of women in the state, noting that the workshop was apt, which will help project the course of women.
The Voice reports that the 3-Day workshop had discussion, question and answer segments on conflict causes and the nature of conflicts and how they affect women in the state.
The high point of the event was the inauguration of the State Multi-Stakeholder Implementation and Monitoring Committee and the election of exco to key positions of the committee.
