Gov. Alia inspects rice mill equipment, boosts women’s economy

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has taken a significant step towards revitalizing the state’s economy by inspecting equipment procured for the revival of the state-owned rice mill in Wadata, Makurdi Local Government Area.

The mill, which was built during the administration of Aminu Isa Kontagora but had been abandoned for years, is set to be operational once again under the management of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

The Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication, Solomon Iorpev, in a statement on Tuesday said, Governor Alia’s vision for a thriving economy is expected to boost women’s participation in small-scale businesses, contributing to the state’s economic growth and development. According to him, The revival of the State Rice Mill demonstrates the Governor’s commitment to creating opportunities for women and promoting economic inclusivity.

“This initiative will have a significant impact on the lives of women and the overall economy of the state,” Governor Alia said, expressing confidence in the project’s success.
