The former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Muhammad Abubakar Adamu has alleged hijacking of result by the Nasarawa State Government officials in the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship primary election.
The Director General ( DG) of the Muhammad Abubakar Adamu Campaign Organisation, Musa Husseini stated this at a press conference on Friday in Lafia.
Husseini said there was an alleged coordinated plot by “certain officials of the Nasarawa State government” to subvert the will of the people by hijacking result sheets.
He stated that data gathered by their agents from the polling wards and local government areas where voting was successfully conducted confirmed a landslide victory for Adamu.
He dismissed any conflicting reports or counter-claims making the rounds in the state, describing them as deliberate plots to manufacture a crisis.
“Our attention has been drawn to ongoing attempts to create confusion around the outcome of the governorship primary election conducted on the 21st of May, 2026 across Nasarawa State.
“We wish to state clearly that the retired Inspector-General of Police, Muhammad Abubakar Adamu, recorded a decisive and overwhelming victory across the state where the election was peacefully and successfully conducted”, he said.
The DG further noted that the numbers rolling in from the grassroots level leave no room for ambiguity regarding who the party faithful chose to fly the APC flag in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
He condemned actions allegedly perpetrated by elements within the state government apparatus, explaining that state officials actively intervened in specific local government areas to alter the course of the democratic exercise by seizing critical electoral materials.
“Our campaign organisation strongly condemns the reported hijacking and interference with election result sheets by certain officials of Nasarawa State government in some local government areas.
“Such actions are unacceptable, undemocratic, and capable of undermining the credibility of the primary exercise.
“Despite these unfortunate incidents, the results already declared from the polling wards where elections were successfully conducted must remain and should be officially recognised, as they reflect the clear mandate freely given to our aspirant by the party members. The voice of the people must not be suppressed”, he said.
He called on the APC primary election committee sent from the national headquarters to stand its ground against executive intimidation inorder to protect the integrity of internal party democracy.
The DG also appealed to their supporters to avoid taking the law into their own hands, emphasising their trust in the party’s institutional guidelines.
When contacted, the APC Publicity Secretary, Augustine Ogaba declined comments on the matter.
